Depart in early morning and drive for two hours to Lake Rweru. On arrival, you take the boat to Mazane Island for bird watching. At the Island you will do bird watching while walking to the place historically known as the entrance of Richard Kandt to Rwanda during his exploration of the farthest source of Nile.
After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Gakenke District in Northern Province one of the part of Rwanda which confirms that Rwanda is a country of a thousand hills. The hike starts in the morning at 8:30 am and ends at around 2:00 pm. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach the top and 2 hours slopping down. It is a hill of about 2,660 meters above sea level. While hiking the tourists enjoy the magnificent view of numerous number of hills in the area, beautiful scenery and landscapes, enjoy lifestyle of local people from their villages, a visit to Mushubi primary school as a stopover before you reach the real top of the hill, panoramic view on Burera and Ruhondo lakes, Bagenge Rock to mention but a few. 8:00AM: Pick up in Kigali at client hotel and proceed to Lake Kivu in 4×4 luxury Toyota landcruiser. Arrive in the Lake Kivu area for an orientation tour and lunch at a local hotel with scenic views. Following lunch, board motorized boat for Lake Kivu cruise around various islands in the lake and the scenic beauty of the surround terraced hillsides. Disembark on the uninhabited Island for a nature walk on the island,board the boat again for the return cruise around the lake and back to port. Bisoke is 3711 m above sea level and hiking to its crater lake requires fours hours up steep trail from the starting point to reach the summit. The walk around the crater is a highly recommended adventure. Allow 7 hours in total for the entire hike. This is the easiest hike in the Volcanoes National Park. Trekking the golden monkeys in their bamboo shelters is another unique experience to see.You can depart from Kigali in the early morning as you are requested to be at the Park office in Kinigi around 7:00 am for briefing.
